The Department of Primary Care Medicine (DMPR) has the societal mission of enabling access to quality care for all through proximity medicine, ensuring the management of minor medical and surgical emergencies, promoting prevention among citizens, providing medical knowledge for judicial investigations, and promoting the health of travelers.

The tropical and humanitarian medicine service ensures the care of patients who have traveled and present an import, tropical, or parasitic pathology and provides prevention advice. It performs specialized vaccinations for travelers, expatriates, students, and the local population. Furthermore, this service actively participates in vaccination interventions in the event of an epidemic or other identified need.

Job description ##

As a nurse in the Tropical and Humanitarian Medicine Service (SMTH), your mission consists of autonomously conducting pre-travel nursing consultations with a very diverse patient base (expatriates, families, humanitarians, immunosuppressed).

You conduct and manage frontline nursing consultations autonomously, in compliance with the missions, protocols, and delegations entrusted to you.

You also ensure a counseling activity for travelers by formulating personalized recommendations regarding the prevention of travel-related risks (vaccinations, prophylaxis, hygiene measures, prevention of infectious diseases and other health risks). You actively participate in vaccination campaigns at different sites.

You work in collaboration with a multi-professional team as well as with internal and external care networks, notably non-governmental organizations, international organizations, and partners present at the Global Health Campus.

Your empathy, your interpersonal skills, and your ability to create a climate of trust allow you to position yourself as a full partner in care.

Possessing an excellent capacity for adaptation and organization, you are able to cope with large and variable patient flows while maintaining quality care. You manage unexpected events and stress-inducing situations calmly.

You possess excellent interpersonal skills, a developed sense of welcome, and benevolent communication, allowing you to meet the expectations of a demanding and multicultural patient base.

As part of your activity, you are required to work at two sites.

Profile description ##

You possess a Bachelor HES in nursing or an equivalent nursing diploma recognized by the Swiss Red Cross.

You have a diversified professional practice of more than 4 years in the field of public health and/or community health and knowledge in vaccinology. You have received training in nursing clinical assessment.

Training in tropical and travel medicine constitutes a real asset.

You have a very good level of English, both spoken and written. Mastery of another language constitutes an asset.

You know how to adapt to various contexts, unexpected events, and variations in workload.

You possess excellent interpersonal skills, a sense of welcome, and benevolent communication.
