The Office de la forêt et des dangers naturels (OFN) is the cantonal competence center for forests and protection against natural hazards. The employees of the OFN are committed to the needs of society regarding forests and ensure sustainable forest management.

You ensure that the Grisons forest

• protects people, animals, and infrastructure,
• is a habitat for a great diversity of animal and plant species,
• is a source of raw materials such as wood, water, and energy,
• remains a place of relaxation and leisure for people.

We are looking for an immediate or by agreement technical assistant for forest data (GIS) (70-100%)

What awaits you: A meaningful task with a direct link to the forest and autonomous work in a committed and collegial team, combined with a great deal of leeway and development opportunities.

Your field of activity

• As the GIS manager for the "State and development of the forest" area, you are responsible for the updating, harmonization, and development of our geographic data.
• In collaboration with specialists, you calculate forest indicators and organize their archiving as well as their accessibility.
• You automate periodic calculations and modeling.
• Depending on your qualifications, you support the area in the analysis, interpretation, and use of digital data and indicators. You participate in interdisciplinary GIS projects.

What we expect from you

• University or university of applied sciences degree in geoinformatics, computer science, data science, geography, forest sciences, or a related field. Candidates with corresponding professional experience and continuing education in the GIS/IT field as well as graduates are also welcome.
• Great willingness to learn as well as pleasure in methodically analyzing complex problems, developing pragmatic solutions, and quickly implementing new ideas
• Knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, R, and Python is an advantage
• Personal initiative, reliability, and a solution-oriented approach to work
• Good knowledge of several cantonal languages is a plus.
