He can initiate investigations and take measures to remedy the illegality of data processing. On the other hand, the EDÖB is, according to the Transparency Act, the competence center for the administration for all questions related to the principle of transparency and access to official documents in the federal administration. His main task is to lead mediation procedures between citizens and authorities when they have not granted access to an official document. If no agreement is reached, he issues recommendations.
