In an exciting phase of envisioned changes, we are looking for a new curator and deputy director of the museum.

The municipal Kunstmuseum Olten is one of the professionally managed art museums in Switzerland, with a quality collection of Swiss art from the 19th century to the present day, an innovative exhibition program, a strong commitment to the field of education and mediation, as well as publishing and research activities.

As an "open museum," we resolutely understand ourselves as a place of exchange, encounter, and cultural participation. Cooperations, projects in public spaces, and participatory formats such as the "Schatzkammer Sammlung" are part of our DNA. We deliberately invest in projects that allow for the addressing of relevant questions of our time, we build bridges between disciplines and population groups, and we network national discourses with local perspectives.

Tasks

Who we are looking for

Following the internal reallocation of the director position, we are looking for you to complete our team and as a close partner to the museum director. As a curator, you will contribute significantly, in particular, to the contemporary exhibition program and participate in exhibition projects related to art history and the collections. You are operationally responsible for press relations and communication. As a representative, you support the museum director in all areas of museum work, particularly regarding the collection, mediation, publications, and public relations.

Expectations

You possess excellent knowledge of (more recent) contemporary Swiss art as well as art history, you have successfully organized exhibitions and are well connected. A sharp sense of the relevant themes of the current era and the ability to combine a national scope with a regional anchor characterize you.

You are passionate about working with the collection and convey this passion. You work in a thoughtful manner, are curious, creative, sociable, and open to experiences. You consider yourself a team player and are motivated to contribute to the development of the Kunstmuseum Olten with personal commitment, a sense of quality, and a talent for improvisation. We require studies in art history or an equivalent qualification, high linguistic competence as well as museum experience.
