The Mittelschul- und Berufsbildungsamt of the Canton of Bern is advertising the position of Director of the cantonal vocational training center for industry, services, and fashion design, BBZ IDM, effective August 1, 2027, or by arrangement.

Your tasks

• You assume overall responsibility for the personnel, pedagogical, organizational, financial, and administrative management of the school operations for the benefit of the learners at BBZ IDM.
• You embody the leadership principles according to the leadership mission statement of BBZ IDM. In doing so, you contribute significantly to the further development of the school, promote innovations, and live a culture of mutual respect, dialogue, and appreciation, and work together with the team to ensure high-quality instruction.
• As Director, you assume primary responsibility for fulfilling the goals of the performance agreement, implementing the strategy of the Canton, adhering to the budget, and quality assurance.
• You participate in the conferences of the directors of cantonal vocational education and advocate for cooperation among the vocational schools. You represent BBZ IDM externally and maintain the large network of relationships of the IDM with companies, organizations of the working world, authorities, politics, as well as national and international partners.

Your profile

• You possess many years of proven management and leadership competencies, strong communication skills, and are decisive and courageous. You have a good and motivating presence, are resilient, and practice a modern, appreciative, and empathetic leadership style. You can win people over for common goals.
• You have a university degree or equivalent education and further training (preferably in the field of educational science), several years of leadership experience in the vocational education system, and teaching experience in vocational training or comparable training at the secondary level II.
• Additionally, you can demonstrate leadership training as well as comprehensive knowledge in business administration, pedagogy-didactics, intercultural competence, and organizational development. You have oral and written French and English skills at a minimum level of B1.
