Network Technician 80-100 % Department: Finanzen & Services Start date: Immediately or by arrangement Tasks As a member of our team in the Network Services area, you are responsible for the installation, operation, and maintenance of our network infrastructure at the ZHAW. In doing so, you ensure that our network environment - from office buildings to data centers and classrooms to laboratory rooms - functions reliably at all times. Your focus will be in the following areas: Network installation and cabling (copper/fiber optics) Datacenter infrastructure Construction projects and infrastructure expansion Warehouse and material management On-site support Your main tasks: You install and mount network equipment in ZHAW buildings as well as in sensitive environments such as data centers and laboratory rooms You process tickets regarding network installations and connections and ensure timely implementation You are willing to take on assignments during planned maintenance windows (nights, weekends) You are responsible for the warehouse and material management for network components and installation material You plan and carry out team-internal, network-specific projects in the infrastructure area, e.g., the upcoming DC move, the switch lifecycle, and the fiber optic lifecycle You advise and collaborate on construction projects regarding network matters and maintain close exchange with internal and external specialist departments (operating technology, facility management, electrical installers) You support our on-site support and the network engineers in network technical topics and use our management tools for this purpose Profile Basic training as an electrical installer EFZ with further training towards telematics or a comparable background Sound knowledge of UKV standards (incl. fiber optics) and common plug types Experience with measurement techniques for troubleshooting in the area of fiber optics, copper, as well as WLAN Very good knowledge of 19-inch installation technology Basic knowledge of the most important network protocols as well as good knowledge of WLAN standards Driver's license Cat. B and willingness for regular on-site assignments in Wädenswil, Zürich, and Winterthur Willingness and physical suitability for lifting and carrying network equipment as part of the installation work High quality awareness during installation and cable laying as well as an independent, structured way of working Experience in project management as well as assertiveness in dealing with internal and external bodies You work reliably, enjoy getting stuck in yourself, and take responsibility for your tasks.
