Laboratory Technician

• Life Sciences - Engineering • Zürich • Contracting • Full-time • As soon as possible - Unlimited • Laboratory, chemical, automotive Location: Freienbach Workload: 100%   Main Tasks • Development of semi-structural and structural adhesives for the automotive industry, particularly for the lightweight construction of vehicle bodies and applications in the field of E-mobility. • Support of efficient and targeted material development based on sound chemical and materials science knowledge, with a focus on hypothesis-based formulation and experimental planning. • Support of production as well as accompaniment of the market launch of new technologies within the framework of established product development and commercialization processes. • Assumption of a high degree of personal responsibility and commitment. Qualifications and Expertise • Completed training as a laboratory technician with sound chemical knowledge (minimum requirement). • Experience in the field of adhesives, especially epoxy and polyurethane-based adhesive technologies for automotive construction, is an advantage. • Experience in handling project management methods and tools is desirable. • Very good organizational skills as well as careful documentation of laboratory work are required. • Independent, motivated, and resilient personality with strong communication skills and the ability to work successfully with internal and external stakeholders. • Understanding of sustainability as well as the increasing regulatory requirements within the framework of the REACH regulation in the field of material development. • Very good German and English skills in spoken and written form. • Experience with laboratory data management systems as well as high IT affinity are an advantage. • Knowledge in information technologies, especially Data Mining and Machine Learning, is desirable. • Proactive, solution-oriented way of working as well as a high degree of initiative and sense of responsibility. Area of Responsibility and Accountability • Independent development of adhesive formulations using various technologies and chemical systems to meet project requirements, with only minimal technical support from the project management. • Manufacture and mixing of adhesive formulations according to defined process standards as well as support in scale-up activities. • Independent execution of tests and performance characterizations according to the specifications of automotive customers. • Independent documentation of recipes and test results in modern laboratory data management systems. • Independent evaluation and summary of project results in laboratory reports and internal scientific documentation as well as participation in the creation of customer presentations. • Execution of all laboratory work in compliance with applicable Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) guidelines. • Participation in the documentation of intellectual property. • Understanding of the company strategy and support in its implementation. • Support in the preparation of project stage-gate meetings according to internal company development processes. • Active contribution to the continuous improvement of occupational safety.
