The Schule für Gestaltung Bern und Biel is the competence center for design-artistic, design-technical, and design-craft basic education in the Espace Mittelland. Around 900 learners attend our vocational school in one of the 17 apprenticeships in the fields of design, communication, and media. In the preparatory course, the Propädeutika Kunst und Design, and the Grafik-, Media&Design- and Keramikdesign specialist classes, we train around 150 learners in full-time education. 200 students complete training in higher vocational education (Tertiary Level B) and over 800 participants attend our continuing education offers. Due to the retirement of the current position holder, we are looking for the following as of 1 August 2027 at the Bern location

Tasks ###

• You lead the Vocational School Department and bear personnel, pedagogical, and organizational responsibility. - You support and lead the teaching staff in technical and pedagogical aspects. - You are responsible for the personnel, hourly, and financial planning of your department. - You ensure the planned implementation of instruction for around 70 classes. - You represent the vocational school in cantonal and national committees and conferences. - As a member of the school management, you help shape the strategic development of the entire school. - You undertake project management in the areas of school and quality development, design, and pedagogy. - Upon request, you take on a small teaching load.

Requirements ###

• You have basic and/or further education in design. - You are familiar with the dual vocational training landscape. - You have vocational pedagogical/didactic training. - You bring leadership experience and have ideally completed corresponding further training. - You are well networked in the areas of media, communication, design, and art. - You are a convincing leader who can inspire people for common goals and bring together different interests. - You work in a structured manner, think in networks, and bring joy to the further development of an educational institution.
