Plumettaz SA

A global leader in the production and sale of equipment for the installation of telecommunications cables and power transmission, Plumettaz SA has built its success since 1923. With our headquarters in Bex, we have subsidiaries in Singapore (SG), Chattanooga (USA), Gouda (NL) and Bad Bramstedt (DE). An innovative Swiss company with strong values, we prioritize efficiency, customer satisfaction and the well-being of our employees. In order to strengthen our design office and support the development of new equipment, we are looking for an Electrical / electronic Engineer.

Electrical / electronic Engineer

Your mission

Within the design office in Bex and in collaboration with the mechanical, automation and software teams, you will take charge of the electrical and electronic design of our prototypes, from the feasibility study to their industrialization. You will define the architectures, produce the diagrams under EPLAN, organize and supervise the wiring of electrical panels, and then ensure the testing, commissioning and compliance of the solutions. As a referent on electrical safety issues, you will ensure the application of standards and best practices, particularly for equipment operating up to 480 V.

Our electronic systems communicate notably by means of the EtherCAT and CAN protocols, knowledge of which constitutes an asset without being a prerequisite for this position.

You

With higher education in electrical engineering, electrotechnics, electronics or a related field, you have proven experience in the design of industrial equipment and electrical panels. You master EPLAN and know how to transform a functional need into diagrams, bills of materials, wiring plans and exploitable technical files. Comfortable in the field, you organize the wiring of prototypes, support the assemblers and perform the necessary controls and tests. Your in-depth knowledge of machine safety and electrical safety allows you to identify risks, define protection measures and guarantee the compliance of installations. You are authorized and certified to work on equipment up to 480 V. Rigorous, pragmatic and autonomous, you enjoy working in a multidisciplinary team and innovation environments.

Your responsibilities

  • Define the electrical and electronic architectures of new machines and their sub-assemblies, from the prototype to production.
  • Develop and maintain electrical diagrams, layout plans, bills of materials, cable lists and manufacturing files under EPLAN.
  • Dimension and select components: power supplies, protections, drives, motors, sensors, actuators, interfaces, cables and connectivity.
  • Define the layout and organize the wiring of electrical panels and prototypes, in coordination with internal assemblers and external partners.
  • Provide technical support during assembly, control the quality of the wiring and handle identified discrepancies.
  • Prepare and perform electrical and functional tests, protection measurements, power-on and commissioning of prototypes.
  • Perform electrical risk analyses and contribute to the functional safety of machines in collaboration with the relevant specialists.
  • Guarantee the compliance of designs with the standards, directives and requirements applicable to the target markets, notably in Europe and North America.
  • Collaborate with the mechanical, automation, software, production, purchasing and after-sales service teams to ensure robust integration of solutions.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical problem solving and continuous improvement processes.
  • Compile and maintain the technical documentation necessary for the manufacture, testing, certification and maintenance of equipment.

Profile sought

  • HES/EPF engineer degree or equivalent higher education in electrical engineering, electrotechnics, electronics or industrial systems.
  • Proven experience in the electrical design of machines, industrial equipment or control panels.
  • Very good mastery of EPLAN Electric P8; mastery of EPLAN Pro Panel constitutes an advantage.
  • Solid knowledge in industrial electronics, power distribution, control, instrumentation and electromagnetic compatibility.
  • Practical experience in the organization, monitoring and control of the wiring of electrical panels and prototypes.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical safety, machine safety, risk analysis and functional safety principles.
  • Recognized authorization or certification allowing intervention on installations and equipment up to 480 V, currently valid.
  • Knowledge of CE requirements and, ideally, North American standards applicable to industrial equipment.
  • Ability to analyze a failure, conduct tests methodically and propose reliable and industrializable solutions.
  • Autonomy, sense of organization, documentary rigor and ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Fluent French; operational technical English (minimum B2). German is an asset.

We offer you:

A permanent position at 100 % within a human-sized company resolutely turned towards the outside, with more than 90 % exports and a network of partners worldwide. You will benefit from good working conditions, great proximity to the development and production teams, as well as a real possibility to contribute to technical choices and the industrialization of innovative products. Training and develop opportunities
