The Eawag is the internationally networked water research institute of the ETH domain (Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology). It conducts research, is engaged in training, and is active in the field of specialist consultancy. In doing so, it pursues two parallel goals: to meet the immediate human need for water and to maintain the functionality and survival of aquatic ecosystems.
The Eawag is specifically expanding its institutional fundraising to strengthen research, infrastructure, and strategic initiatives in the long term. Would you like to help shape the fundraising activities of an internationally renowned environmental research institute? As part of the ETH domain, Eawag offers a unique opportunity to build and further develop institutional fundraising in a cooperative and meaningful environment. You identify suitable funding opportunities and develop sustainable funding partnerships together with foundations, institutional funding organizations, philanthropic partners, and selected major donors. In close cooperation with researchers, the directorate, and the communications department, you develop convincing funding concepts that communicate the scientific strengths and strategic goals of Eawag understandably and attractively to funding partners.
The position offers you a high degree of responsibility and independence as well as the opportunity to actively help shape Eawag's fundraising activities and strategic partnerships.
Your tasks
Research, analysis, and identification of potential funding partners, especially foundations and private major donors.
Examination and evaluation of research projects regarding their fundraising potential.
Close cooperation with researchers in the development of target-group-oriented funding documents such as funding cases, project proposals, and progress reports.
Building and maintaining long-term relationships with funding partners and donors, as well as supporting the acquisition of new funding partners and accompanying funding partnerships throughout the entire funding cycle.
Management of administrative fundraising processes including contract management, payment processing, and maintenance of data in the CRM system.
In close cooperation with the communications department, you plan and coordinate visits and events for existing and potential funding partners and create fundraising-specific content for Eawag's communication channels.
Your qualifications
At least five years of professional experience in fundraising, ideally in foundation, institutional, or major donor fundraising.
Demonstrable success in the development of funding applications as well as in the building and maintenance of long-term funding partnerships.
Strong communication and social skills as well as a high orientation toward service. You build trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work successfully with different research groups.
Structured and independent way of working with strong organizational skills.
Strong interest in scientific topics, especially in environmental research; experience in the areas of research, higher education, ecological sustainability, or healthcare is an advantage.
Confident use of common digital tools, including CRM systems.
You have very good German or French skills as well as good knowledge of the respective other language. You are proficient in English for business purposes.
