With around 1'400 employees, Justizvollzug und Wiedereingliederung (JuWe) is responsible for the execution of sentences and measures as well as for the implementation of various types of detention. Our employees from around 40 professions support and promote the reintegration of convicted persons and are effectively and progressively committed to a safe and just society.

The Medizinischer Dienst is one of eight main departments of JuWe and is responsible as the central organization for the basic medical-somatic care of all incarcerated persons in the institutions of the Canton Zürich. It ensures medical care from initial assessment through treatments to emergency care and accompanies incarcerated persons in daily life with health-related questions.

As part of the Vollzugseinrichtungen Zürich (VEZ), the Gefängnis Affoltern am Albis (GFA) executes prison sentences and remaining sentences of up to 18 months and has 65 detention places. With a concept oriented towards reintegration, group detention, basic education, and work opportunities, incarcerated persons are specifically prepared for reentry into society.

To complement the Medizinischer Dienst, we are looking for you immediately or by arrangement.

This is your area of activity ###

• You are the professional and thus responsible for initial intervention in medical and psychiatric emergencies, admission assessments, as well as ensuring basic medical care including medication management of the incarcerated persons
• Administrative work such as billing and correspondence with internal and external interfaces
• You support physician rounds and maintain frequent contact with various external agencies
• You work closely with our supervisors/caregivers and train them for emergencies and health-related matters
• Co-design and development of the medical department through the contribution of your professional and social competence and participation in work and project groups, also across different locations

• You are a dipl. Pflegefachperson HF/ FH and ready for a new challenge in the prison world
• With your experience and knowledge in the acute care area, in a psychiatry, or in an emergency station, you complement our team
• You are a team player and stand out with your hands-on mentality
• You are flexible, show personal responsibility, and possess a high degree of social competence
• You are familiar with various operating systems, advantageously SiMed experience
• In addition to German, you speak another language, which is an advantage
• «Lifelong learning» is not an unfamiliar term to you and you are motivated to further your education in somatic/psychiatric nursing
• There are small hurdles: You must be at least 25 years old and have an impeccable record
