ICT Manager (m/f/d) – hands-on

About the role

You are responsible for the entire ICT landscape of the domestic and foreign companies of the allvaco group AG ( , , – both strategically and operationally. You develop the IT strategy and are responsible for the ICT budget, negotiate with providers and suppliers, and roll up your sleeves on the same day when a server needs to be reinstalled or a network issue needs to be solved. You report directly to the management and are the first point of contact for all ICT matters in the company.

Your tasks

Strategy, conception and leadership

• Further development of the ICT strategy in coordination with the management
• Development of concepts for infrastructure, cloud, workplace IT and cybersecurity
• Planning and responsibility for the annual ICT budget (investment and operating costs)
• Roadmap planning including prioritization of technical debt and modernization projects

Contracts and supplier management

• Negotiation and management of contracts with providers, system houses, software manufacturers and cloud providers
• Building and maintaining a contract and renewal calendar
• License management and compliance monitoring
• Management of external service providers and commissioning in project business

Operation and hands-on technology

• Responsibility for availability, performance and security of the entire infrastructure (server, network, storage, backup, M365 / Cloud)
• Independent installation, configuration and maintenance of servers (physical and virtual), network components and storage systems
• Operation and further development of the virtualization and backup environment
• Incident management and 2nd/3rd-level support for critical issues

Security and governance

• Implementation and further development of the ICT security concept (patch management, access controls, backup strategy, emergency planning)
• Compliance with relevant requirements (DSG, potentially industry-specific specifications)
• Responsibility for IT emergency concept and regular recovery tests

Projects

• Management of ICT projects from conception to commissioning (infrastructure renewals, cloud migrations, ERP connections, digitalization projects)
• Internal consulting of specialist departments on digitalization and automation topics

What you bring

Experience

• Several years of experience in a comparable hybrid role (ICT Manager, IT Head, Senior System Engineer with leadership responsibility) – ideally in an SME environment where both strategic and operational work is a matter of course
• Proven experience in negotiating IT contracts and in managing budgets in the range of millions and larger.
• Experience in client engineering and software distribution
• Experience in setting up and operating server and network infrastructures
• Experience in the implementation and operation of cybersecurity products
• Personnel and technical leadership of IT employees
• Experience with KI/AI is an advantage

Technical profile

• Sound knowledge of Windows and/or Linux server operation
• Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V or Proxmox), storage systems and backup concepts
• Solid network know-how (VLAN, routing, firewall, VPN)
• Experience with M365, Azure or comparable cloud environments
• Basic understanding of IT security at the conceptual and operational level
• Advantageous: knowledge in automation (PowerShell, Power Automate, Ansible or similar)

Commercial and methodical

• Confident appearance in contract negotiations with vendors and providers
• Experience in budget planning and cost control
• Ability to prepare technical matters for the management to be ready for decision-making
• Project management experience, ideally according to recognized methodology

Personality

• You feel comfortable both in the server room and in the management meeting room
• Structured, decisive, pragmatic
• Communicates clearly in German; English business fluent (French an advantage)
• Educational background: higher vocational school / FH in computer science or equivalent training, supplemented by relevant further training
