Job Description ##

To support this mission, the Syngenta hiring team is looking for an Onsite Automation Engineer in Muttenz, Switzerland.

As a member of the Support Team Engineering, the Automation Engineer is responsible for the technical availability, optimization, and expansion of the automation systems (DeltaV/Simatic/SIS) of the buildings, production, and infrastructure facilities, taking into account internal and regulatory requirements.

Tasks:

• Responsible for the Emerson DeltaV process control system as well as for various bus and third-party systems
• Programming of control and visualization systems or control systems (DeltaV, Simatic S5/S7, SIS)
• Experience in implementation projects of OT network conversions
• Experience in the support of electrical concepts and installations
• Responsible for the availability/harmonization/optimization of the currently existing DeltaV system across the entire production plant
• Creates and reviews functional specifications as a template for DeltaV coding
• Develops DeltaV code (Equipment Module, recipes) and creates process graphics.
• Technical guidance of Capex projects to implement the plant's developed technical standards
• Project responsibility for the planning and execution of Support Team Engineering internal automation projects for buildings, production, and infrastructure facilities
• Acts as a support function for the creation/optimization of DeltaV recipes in close cooperation with the responsible process designers.
• Accompanies FAT at the DeltaV test system and accompanies the phases and EM tests in the plant
• Develops the new production orientation towards multi-purpose plants together with the engineering team
• Maintains and optimizes the alarm management system incl. construction of the reporting tool using OSIsoft Pi using the DeltaV data
• Coordinates employees in relevant workflows.

Qualifications ##

• University degree in a technical field, preferably in the field of electrical / automation or chemical process engineering
• Profound DeltaV knowledge (system architecture, coding, application) is mandatory.
• Fundamental understanding of the principles of project management, documentation of technical changes, and risk analyses
• You have several years of experience in the area of IEC 61131, control system or SCADA integration
• You are familiar with the state of the art and methodology in engineering in the process industry.
• You have profound knowledge of modern standards and current trends in process automation
• Experience with SW development methods and software architectures is desirable
• You bring knowledge in the field of fieldbus systems and industrial networks, e.g., Profibus, HART or Foundation Fieldbus
• You are characterized by a structured way of working and the ability to handle complex technical problems analytically and goal-oriented
• You have experience in the definition of concept development projects and the management of projects with changing requirements
• At least 10 years of experience in industrial automation, preferably in the chemical/pharma industry and with the support of DeltaV systems
• Project experience is an advantage
• Good knowledge of MS Office and other standard programs, SAP-PM and COMOS knowledge is an advantage
• Languages: German + English; French is an advantage.
