Your new task
Together with your supervisor, City Councilor, Directorate of Planning and Construction, and your committed teams, you will shape the high building culture for a vital urban space with a high quality of life with passion and professional expertise.
You are responsible for the strategic and operational leadership as well as the future-oriented further development of the Tiefbauamt in the context of politics and public administration. You lead demanding projects with technical, financial, and political significance, taking into account the diverse requirements for public space and relying on contemporary, sustainable, and ecological design. In exchange with external stakeholders and internal administrative bodies, you coordinate the development of public road and traffic route construction. In all your activities, you develop and connect people, processes, and technologies in a balanced way and keep the big picture in mind. You align your activities with customer and employee satisfaction, economic efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
This position is for you if
You have a university degree in civil engineering or spatial development and infrastructure systems, supplemented by further training in business administration.
You can demonstrate several years of leadership, specialist, and project experience in infrastructure management with revenue and profit responsibility.
You lead clearly and bindingly, provide orientation, set accents and impulses for change, and promote an appreciative and participatory culture.
You are a stable personality with a clear stance, respectful appearance, convincing communication, as well as negotiation and decision-making strength.
You promote dialogue with different stakeholders and introduce new technologies and trends with initiative, creativity, and a sense for politics, administration, and the economy.
Your department
With around 160 committed employees, you ensure city-appropriate mobility and design, plan, build, and maintain the public space as well as the traffic infrastructures in the city area. In this way, we make an important contribution to the high quality of life in the city of St. Gallen.
