Linux System Engineer

He will be in charge of analyzing, installing, configuring, modifying operating systems, networks, databases, and software. He plans, evaluates, tests, troubleshoots, and implements either systems or software supporting the company's infrastructure, business processes, and operations. Linux System Engineer H/F Responsibilities: • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructures (Cloud & On premises), with a strong focus on Linux virtual machines, Ubuntu as well as Oracle Linux and Solaris. • Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools with a strong focus on Linux virtual machines. • Proactively ensure the highest levels of system and infrastructure availability. • Handle day-to-day operations of Oracle Database environments • Monitor and test application performance, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement fixes. • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies. • Plan and implement system automation as needed for better efficiency, focusing on Ansible. • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and reduce human intervention time for any task. • Develop and maintain documentation of supported applications, processes, and training materials for internal employees and IT staff. • Collaborate with vendors and other IT personnel to resolve issues. • Participate in general IT operations and user support. Profile: • Higher education in computer science, engineering, or equivalent field. • Minimum 10 years of experience in a similar function. • Solid experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting UNIX/Linux environments. • Strong scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Perl, Python) • Solid experience with virtualization and containerization • Solid experience with monitoring systems • Strong network knowledge (TCP/IP, routing, firewalls) • Experience with automation software (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, etc.) • Knowledge of IT service management processes. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. • Excellent organizational and time management skills. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills. • Availability to perform maintenance and tasks outside of business hours. • Current English and French • Swiss residence.
