Research Associate Electronics Development and Embedded Systems

Do you want to not only develop electronics but also apply them in practical research projects? In the Analog Electronics and Microcontrollers AEM competence group of the ESA Institute, you will work on customized electronic solutions - from analog signal processing, sensor integration and measurement technology to embedded systems and STM32-based firmware, up to EMC-compliant PCB design. Together with industrial partners, researchers and students, you will realize innovative solutions for industrial, scientific and technological applications. To strengthen our AEM competence group, we are looking for the period from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2027 for a Research Associate Electronics Development and Embedded Systems 100%. The position is initially limited to one year. An extension is possible depending on the project situation. ### Your tasks • Development of analog and microcontroller-based electronic solutions - from specification through circuit design, PCB layout, firmware development and commissioning to verification. • Collaboration in application-oriented research and development projects with industrial partners, particularly in the areas of sensor technology, measurement technology, embedded systems, signal processing and EMC-compliant design. • Development and testing of prototypes, measurement setups and demonstrators. • Support in the acquisition of new projects, e.g. through technical clarifications, conceptual contributions and preparation of offers. • Participation in teaching, e.g. in internships, project work or the supervision of students. • Operation, maintenance and further development of the laboratory and development infrastructure. Your qualification • Completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical engineering, electronics, embedded systems, systems engineering or a comparable field of study. • Experience or great interest in at least one of the following areas: analog circuit technology, embedded software, sensor technology, measurement technology, EMC, power electronics, high-frequency electronics or medical technology. • Enjoyment of practical development - from concept to prototype to tested system. • Structured, independent and quality-conscious way of working. • Teamwork skills, communication strength and interest in collaborating with industrial partners and students. • Very good German skills as well as good English skills in speaking and writing.
