The Position
We are looking for an experienced Crude Oil Physical Operator to support our crude oil trading activities. The position is integrated into our Trading team in Baar, which manages the flows of crude oil, fuel oil and commodities related to our refineries as well as the market.
You will work closely with Traders, Commercial Analysts and the Refining teams on a daily basis and will play a key role in ensuring that our physical operations are executed reliably and accurately.
This position is based in Central Switzerland, and in-person at the office.
Your Key Responsibilities
• Manage daily voyage operations, in liaison with VAROPreem traders, loading and unloading terminals, inspectors, rail/pipeline operators where applicable, and commercial counterparts to ensure timely and accurate execution of commercial commitments ;
• Identify optimization opportunities regarding operational matters, as well as potential risks and develop mitigation strategies ;
• Ensure that systems are kept up to date so that inventories are correctly controlled, hedging requirements are executed and payment obligations are fulfilled accurately ;
• Coordinate with the Treasury and Credit teams to ensure that financing is in place and that purchases/sales are not subject to financial blocks ;
• Work with the refining team to ensure that refinery planning requirements are reflected in the operational plans ;
• At the end of the month, ensure that activities are correctly reflected in reports, that cost provisions are updated, and that system data matches terminal and pipeline inventory reports.
Your Profile
• A bachelor's or master's degree, or equivalent ;
• You have at least 5 years of experience in oil trading operations within an international trading environment ;
• Knowledge of European crude oil qualities and infrastructure will be an asset. You are proficient in English. Knowledge of other languages, notably Swedish, German or French, is a plus ;
• You have a strong sense of detail and consistently provide accurate and high-quality work ;
• You are proactive, reactive and reliable, with a hands-on approach to your responsibilities ;
