The Office for Traffic and Civil Engineering (AVT) is responsible for the further development and value preservation of cantonal roads and paths as well as their operational maintenance. It plans and orders public regional and local transport and approves traffic measures on municipal roads. The goal is to ensure efficient, safe, and sustainable transport mobility in the canton. For the Road Construction Department, we are looking for a Head of Road Construction Department, 80-100% at the Solothurn location, starting as agreed or after agreement.

Your Responsibility

• You lead the Road Construction Department with around 20 employees and are responsible for their personnel, technical, and organizational leadership.
• In your function, you bear responsibility for the project design and realization of cantonal road construction projects, from planning to successful implementation.
• You manage the annual and multi-year planning of road construction investments, while always keeping an eye on deadlines, costs, and quality.
• You manage a versatile project portfolio and ensure goal-oriented, economical, and high-quality project execution.
• As a member of the executive management, you help shape the further development of the office and represent it in cantonal and extra-cantonal bodies, commissions, and working groups.

Your Profile

• You have a completed degree in civil engineering from ETH/FH or an equivalent qualification.
• Profound knowledge and several years of experience in the project design and realization of complex road construction projects – especially in built-up areas – distinguish you.
• As a motivating leader, you bring several years of leadership experience as well as profound knowledge in project and portfolio management.
• You think in networks, quickly grasp different interests and requirements, and weigh them carefully against each other.
• You work independently and solution-oriented, value teamwork, and communicate clearly, confidently, and appropriately for the target group, both orally and in writing.
