Subject Matter Expert Natural Hazards (Focus on Hydraulic Engineering)

The Amt für Umwelt is looking for a

for a temporarily fixed-term employment starting on 1 October 2026 or by arrangement

Your tasks

• Interim management of the Fachstelle Naturgefahren
• Development, maintenance, and further development of natural hazard fundamentals, in particular hazard maps, event registers, risk overviews, and protection structure registers.
• Technical responsibility for hydrological and hydraulic analyses as well as the supervision and review of hydraulic engineering and surface runoff projects.
• Advice and support for municipalities and authorities regarding planning and construction projects as well as in all matters related to natural hazards.
• Collaboration in event and risk management, including emergency planning, event mapping, flood service, and support during severe weather events.

Your profile

• Professional or university degree as an environmental engineer, civil engineer, or in a related field
• Experience in managing projects in the field of hydraulic engineering and/or natural hazards (project management is an advantage)
• Proven knowledge in modeling, GIS applications, and data models
• Enjoyment of interdisciplinary cooperation as well as a confident manner towards various stakeholders
• Independent, structured, and solution-oriented way of working
• Proficient German (oral and written)
