Justizvollzug und Wiedereingliederung (JuWe) is, as part of the Department of Justice and Home Affairs of the Canton of Zürich, responsible for the execution of sentences and measures as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1'400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of convicted persons and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance. Die Bewährungs- und Vollzugsdienste (BVD) - one of the seven main departments of JuWe - are responsible for the execution of prison sentences and court-ordered measures as well as for probation assistance. They make an important contribution to crime prevention and the social integration of convicted people. The Abteilung Strafvollzug regulates, coordinates and plans the execution of prison sentences in penal institutions. Furthermore, essential decisions regarding execution actions (placement, leave, conditional release, reassignment, etc.) are made. In addition, applications for the serving of prison sentences in the special forms of execution Electronic Monitoring and semi-liberty are reviewed and decided upon. We are looking for an empathetic, integrative and communicative personality as of 01.10.2026 or by arrangement   This is your field of activity ### • You support the case managers in making execution-relevant decisions (e.g., examination of execution openings and conditional releases) and drafting statements in appeal proceedings • Using the four-eyes principle, you ensure the quality and legal compliance of decisions and ensure equal legal decision-making and practice development • In the area of the execution of short-term sentences and substitute prison sentences, you act as the legal contact person for legal questions for the Department Head. You advise the department on legal issues, support complex proceedings and appeal proceedings and contribute your legal expertise to the further development of the department • You are in contact with both internal and external work partners as well as in exchange with social workers, lawyers and specialists in forensic psychiatry or psychology • In the absence of the Department Head, you assume the organizational and professional leadership of the department in close and coordinated cooperation with the second Co-Deputy. Through your participation in management meetings and involvement in the management board, you actively shape cross-departmental topics This is what you bring with you ### • Degree in law (Lizentiat or Master) with corresponding several years of professional experience in administration and/or at a court. You bring interest in forensic issues and case management and are motivated to specifically undergo further training in these interdisciplinary specialist fields • You have experience in writing and editing decrees as well as submissions in appeal proceedings, and precision in oral and written expression is a matter of course for you. Making and enforcing decisions does not pose any difficulty for you • Interdisciplinary cooperation is important to you. You view issues from different perspectives, recognize connections and derive pragmatic and solution-oriented courses of action from them.
