Head of External Relations 80 % from 1 January 2027 or by agreement Your responsibility: As Head of the External Relations department, you are responsible for the basic work, consulting, coordination and implementation of the cantonal representation in intercantonal government conferences and cross-border bodies. Your portfolio of tasks includes the coordination and implementation of the cantonal interest representation towards the federal level. In doing so, you will work on strategic and organizational tasks of the State Chancellery and the Government Council. You will support the government members entrusted with foreign policy functions in their task perception, directly reporting to them. You will coordinate the external relations of the directorates and the State Chancellery. To this end, you will regularly exchange ideas with your contacts and maintain your network. Your background: You have a university degree (Master's level) in economics, law or political science or equivalent training, as well as very good knowledge of the Swiss political system and ideally knowledge of the structures in Germany, France and the EU. You have already gained several years of relevant professional experience in the public administration and political environment and have practical experience in leading projects and working groups. Independent work and initiative as well as a confident, diplomatic appearance are among your strengths. You are able to handle a wide range of tasks and diverse external contacts in a sovereign manner. It is the staff unit of the Landrat and the Government Council and is headed by the State Scribe. Together with its around 45 employees, it supports the parliament, commissions and government in their work, in particular in the organization and preparation and follow-up of meetings. It plans and organizes cantonal elections and votes and carries out the chronological and systematic collection of laws. It is also responsible for the website and the online service portal of the canton of Basel-Landschaft.
