The International Police Cooperation (CPI) management domain of fedpol ensures cooperation between the Confederation and the cantons as well as with foreign partners, manages national contact points for the exchange of information and the processing of international searches (e.g. Interpol, Europol, and Schengen) and ensures police coordination in cross-border and international situations. The Central Engagement and Alarm Center (SIRENE CH) is the national contact point responsible for the exchange of police information and data related to police searches within the Schengen information system (SIS). Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, it processes police requests from Switzerland and abroad, coordinates their transmission to the competent national authorities, and supports international search and investigation procedures as well as the management of special situations.
