System Engineer – Microsoft & Windows (a)

For an established, Switzerland-wide trading and logistics company in the Bern area, we are looking for an experienced person in the field of System Engineering with a focus on the Microsoft and Windows environment. In this role, you will combine engineering and operations, continuously develop the system landscape, and work together with the team to ensure stable, secure, and high-performance IT services. You can expect a wide range of tasks with a lot of personal responsibility and direct influence on a business-critical, Switzerland-wide networked IT infrastructure.

Your Challenge

In this versatile generalist role, you will design, implement, and operate Windows-based platforms and develop them throughout their entire lifecycle. Together with the engineering team, you will ensure stable and secure operations and take responsibility for monitoring and alerting, incident and problem management, patch and release management, as well as capacity, performance, and availability. You will drive standardization, automation, and security hardening, analyze malfunctions sustainably, and implement lasting improvements. In company-wide projects, you will participate as a technical specialist or lead, advise internal teams on infrastructure, architecture, security, and operating models, and ensure transparency with up-to-date system, architecture, and operational documentation.

Your Qualities and Talents

• Completed education and further training in computer science (EFZ/HF/FH) or comparable qualification
• Several years of experience in System Engineering
• Profound knowledge in the Microsoft and Windows environment, especially Windows Server & Clients, Microsoft 365, Azure, as well as Active Directory / Entra ID
• Experience with virtualization, ideally VMware, as well as with backup/restore solutions
• Good knowledge of network and security topics
• Experience with monitoring, patch, and lifecycle management
• Knowledge in automation and scripting, especially PowerShell
• Broad technical understanding and enjoyment of a versatile generalist role
• Independent, structured, and solution-oriented way of working as well as a strong team and service mindset
• Business-fluent German skills
