Head of Pro Natura Zentrum Aletsch (80 -100 %) Pro Natura is the leading organization for nature conservation in Switzerland with 170,000 members. It is committed to the promotion and preservation of indigenous animal and plant life. Around 100 people work in the Pro Natura office, and another 100 are active in the 23 Pro Natura sections. The Pro Natura Zentrum Aletsch is one of the two national environmental education centers of Pro Natura, located in a unique location in the Villa Cassel on the Riederalp in the canton of Valais. The offer includes numerous excursions and tours, an alpine garden, an exhibition, a tea salon, as well as a pension business with 60 beds. For the Pro Natura Zentrum Aletsch on the Riederalp VS of the Environmental Education department, we are looking for a leader for the Head of Pro Natura Zentrum Aletsch (80 -100 %) per 1. January 2027 or by arrangement. What are your main tasks? You lead the center with the various areas consisting of the pension, environmental education, and the Aletschwald nature reserve. You lead a team consisting of 4 permanent employees, our rangers, and around 20 seasonal employees in the areas of pension and environmental education. You represent the interests of the center operations and nature conservation in the alpine region and maintain cooperation with our regional partner organizations. You are responsible for the finances, the sustainable operation, maintenance and infrastructure of the monument-protected buildings, the seasonal program, as well as the strategic further development of the center. You represent the center externally in committees and working groups or in communication. You plan and are responsible for events such as courses, excursions, and workshops. You recruit the seasonally employed staff in cooperation with the heads of Environmental Education and Pension and support them in their induction and training. What do you bring with you? University degree in natural sciences or comparable initial or further education Further training and experience in the areas of leadership and business administration Leadership competence in leading heterogeneous teams in multi-sector businesses Experience in practical nature conservation and a flair for environmental education Strong presentation skills, negotiation certainty, and communication skills Knowledge and enjoyment in engaging in the most diverse fields of work: pension business, environmental education, protected area, as well as maintenance of monument-protected buildings First language German, with very good knowledge of French Flexibility and willingness to engage with seasonally varying workloads and at different work locations.
