Head of Patent Department (m/f/d) 100% - Member of the Executive Board Patents as a key to innovation and progress The Federal Institute of Intellectual Property IGE () is the central contact point for the Confederation for patents, trademarks, designations of origin, design protection, and copyright. The Patent Department unites around 80 highly qualified specialists and is being specifically developed with a view to patent law reform, digitalization, and artificial intelligence. For this key position, AG is looking for a convincing personality as Head of Patent Department (m/f/d) 100% - Member of the Executive Board In this function, you bear the overall responsibility for the strategic, technical, personnel, financial, and organizational leadership of the Patent Department. You provide orientation, set clear priorities, and create frameworks in which experts work independently. Together with the Executive Board, you shape the further development of the entire IGE and take responsibility for joint decisions. You ensure customer-oriented and economical service delivery, promote cross-departmental cooperation, and specifically develop processes and competencies with a view to digitalization and AI. Towards politics, economy, science, as well as national and international partner organizations, you represent the IGE credibly and with institutional tact. Leadership personality with foresight You have substantial management and leadership experience in a demanding expert or knowledge organization and know how to lead through directional guidelines, trust, and clear expectations. You handle complex governance structures and diverse stakeholder interests confidently; in the management committee, you act in a consensus- and team-oriented manner. A university degree forms your technical basis; very good business administration knowledge and a strong understanding of financial, organizational, and strategic management issues are required. A scientific or technical background, experience in a regulated or innovation-driven environment, and knowledge of intellectual property are an advantage. Strategic and entrepreneurial thinking, empathy, political sensitivity, and adaptability are decisive.
