As part of strengthening a technological team within a leading private bank based in Genève, we are looking for a highly experienced DevOps Engineer, with a solid background in Java / Spring development and a strong sensitivity to the issues of production, architecture, reliability, automation, and security.

We are looking for more than a traditional DevOps profile: the ideal candidate possesses a true Software Engineer culture and is capable of intervening in both application development and architecture issues as well as their deployment, operation, and securing in production.

Your responsibilities
====================

Integrated into a team composed of experienced technological profiles, you will work on critical applications and APIs for the bank's users.

As such, your main responsibilities will notably include:

• Collaborating closely with Business Analysts, Software Engineers, Technical Architects, and Solution Architects in order to continuously evolve the architecture of applications and APIs;
• Participating in technical architecture choices and improving the reliability of microservices;
• Supporting developers on all issues related to the development, deployment, and operation of applications;
• Ensuring the promotion and deployment of applications from the software factory to production;
• Maximizing deployment automation while guaranteeing a high level of quality, stability, and security;
• Designing and maintaining robust, high-performance, and scalable REST APIs;
• Implementing and improving monitoring, observability, and alerting solutions;
• Diagnosing production incidents, performing Root Cause Analyses, and proposing lasting solutions;
• Developing components related to configuration and security;
• Collaborating with third-party publishers and providers to integrate, maintain, and evolve different software components;
• Ensuring that the developed solutions are fully production-ready, reliable, and easily operable;
• Defining and monitoring relevant metrics in order to promote a data-driven approach to operations and reliability.

Profile sought

We are looking for a Senior / Expert profile, possessing an excellent understanding of the complete application lifecycle, from development to its operation in production.

Essential skills

• Solid experience in Software Engineering: development, maintenance, and continuous improvement;
• Advanced expertise in Java;
• Very good mastery of Spring / Spring Framework;
• Excellent understanding of the JVM and the Java ecosystem;
• Strong experience in the design, development, versioning, and maintenance of REST APIs;
• Good understanding of network issues;
• Significant experience with reverse proxies, notably Apache;
• Very good mastery of SQL databases, notably PostgreSQL and/or Oracle;
• Concrete experience with build pipelines / CI-CD;
• Experience deploying Java applications under Linux and/or Kubernetes;
• Practical experience with monitoring, observability, and alerting tools such as Dynatrace, Grafana, Prometheus, or Icinga;
• Strong sensitivity to issues of security, availability, reliability, and performance of applications;
• Ability to intervene in demanding and critical production environments;
• Excellent communication skills in French and/or English;
• Autonomy, rigor, team spirit, and excellent organizational skills;
• Master's in computer science, EPFL or equivalent university/engineering school training;
• Residence in Switzerland required from the start of the mission.

• OpenID Connect (OIDC) / OAuth;
• TLS/SSL, certificates, and encryption mechanisms;
• Network security and firewalls;
• GitHub / GitHub Workflows;
• Cloud environments, notably AWS and/or Azure;
• Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm;
• Python and/or Bash scripting;
• Infrastructure as Code and automation, notably Puppet;
• XaaS approaches;
• NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Elasticsearch;
• Agile methodologies;
• Knowledge of or a strong interest in banking and financial environments.

The sought "DevDevOps" profile

For this mission, we are particularly looking for a profile capable of making the link between development and operations.

You are above all an excellent software engineer, with strong expertise in Java/Spring and APIs, but you are also interested in what happens after development: deployment, production, monitoring, performance, network, security, automation, and incident resolution.

You are capable of understanding an application in depth, challenging its architecture, contributing technically to its evolution, and guaranteeing its proper functioning through to production.
