As a chief resident, you aim to obtain your specialist title in general internal medicine or geriatrics and wish to join a team recognized for its clinical expertise, academic commitment, and interdisciplinary approach to the care of elderly people.

In this role, you ensure all clinical activities and evolve in a stimulating university environment, at the interface of care, teaching, and research. As part of your training pathway, you benefit from a structured rotation within the different units. You thus develop your skills in acute geriatrics, notably in continuous care and geriatric emergencies, in acute medicine, including infectiology, as well as in cognitive and behavioral geriatrics. You also participate in the psychiatric care of the elderly as well as in geriatric liaison, particularly with patients hospitalized in orthopedic surgery and psycho-geriatrics. Depending on your training plan, you may also intervene in the rehabilitation units.

Under the supervision of an attending physician, you autonomously ensure the assessment, diagnosis, and follow-up of often complex clinical situations, while bringing your expertise to the medico-nursing teams. You coordinate clinical activities as well as the diagnostic and therapeutic strategies of the patients for whom you are responsible. You mobilize your clinical sense, your analytical spirit, and your decision-making capacity in order to guarantee quality care based on best medical practices.

Thanks to your organizational skills and your ability to manage priorities, you efficiently conduct your clinical activities while responding to the numerous demands related to your function (patients, telephones, correspondence, meetings). You ensure compliance with institutional procedures and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the quality and safety of care.

Faced with demanding situations and the diversity of problems encountered, you demonstrate discernment, resilience, and excellent stress management. Your intellectual curiosity and your interest in the evolution of medical knowledge allow you to maintain a high level of expertise. Relying on your team spirit, you demonstrate solidarity in the face of unforeseen events and high workloads.

You collaborate closely with the entire medico-nursing team and ensure clear, fluid, and respectful communication, both with your colleagues and with patients, by adapting your discourse to their understanding.

As a chief resident, you participate actively in the supervision and training of resident doctors, by adopting a mentoring posture and sharing your expertise. Furthermore, you can participate in clinical research activities and you can start, depending on your personal interest, a quality or clinical research project with specific supervision.

You hold a federal medical diploma or have training deemed equivalent by the Commission des professions médicales of the Federal Office of Public Health (MEBEKO).

You benefit from or are about to obtain the FMH specialist title in general internal medicine. If you benefit from an FMH specialist title, you must be in possession of a right to practice in the canton of Geneva.

For non-French speaking candidates, a C1 level in French for both spoken and written tests is required.

Experience in acute internal medicine (emergencies or intermediate care) or advanced training in geriatrics is a plus.

You are a person endowed with good communication skills in an interdisciplinary team and with patients; you are dynamic, flexible, and committed.

You can work in both daytime hours and night and weekend hours.
