To complement our well-coordinated and motivated team, we are looking for an enthusiastic, independent, and motivated IT Operations Specialist / System Engineer (80-100%) to start immediately or by arrangement at our headquarters in Urdorf near Zurich. Job Description This position combines two complementary roles at Sopra Steria: IT Operations/Workplace Services System Engineer & Infrastructure IT Operations & Workplace Services (approx. 50%) Installation, configuration, and provisioning of PCs, laptops, mobile devices, and peripheral devices Administration and lifecycle management of end devices including hardware replacement Installation, configuration, and maintenance of standard software and client systems Processing of IT service requests and incidents in the ticketing system User and permission management (Active Directory, Microsoft 365, LDAP) Planning and execution of hardware and software orders including delivery and installation on-site and at the customer Participation in rollouts of new hardware and workplace solutions Maintenance of inventory as well as documentation of IT workstations Support in the continuous improvement of IT service processes System Engineering & Infrastructure (approx. 50%) Development of a deep technical understanding of our supervisory control systems Installation and administration of in-house developed applications and solutions Responsibility for the stability, maintenance, and further development of our on-premise infrastructure as well as selected customer environments Technical 2nd/3rd level support with a focus on servers, virtualization, networks, and central IT services Analysis and resolution of complex technical malfunctions in close cooperation with the Engineering & Development team Participation in infrastructure, cloud, and security projects Installation, configuration, and maintenance of server, storage, and network components Support in the further development of our monitoring, backup, and automation solutions Participation in 24/7 on-call service in a rotating system (approx. 1 week per month, fully compensated) Qualifications Completed training in the field of computer science or as an ICT specialist EFZ or comparable further education Several years of professional experience in the field of IT Operations, System Engineering, or IT infrastructure Practical experience in operating both Windows client and server environments as well as Linux-based server environments Good knowledge of Active Directory Experience with hardware provisioning and client lifecycle management Experience in using ticketing systems (e.g., Jira Service Management) Good knowledge in the field of networks (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, VPN, firewall) Experience with VMware or comparable virtualization solutions Independent, structured, and solution-oriented way of working, as well as a problem-solving mentality Willingness to travel within Switzerland Willingness to perform on-call service Enjoyment of direct contact with users Very good German skills as well as good English skills Nice-to-have Experience with PowerShell, Bash or Knowledge in Microsoft Azure Experience with backup solutions (e.g., Veeam) Experience with monitoring systems (e.g.) Swiss knowledge is an advantage Additional Information A varied position with a balanced mix of IT Operations and System Engineering Targeted development of required, industry-specific know-how Perspective to take over coordinative/technical responsibility in the medium term High degree of creative freedom and say in technical decisions Participation in exciting infrastructure and digitalization projects Access to state-of-the-art technologies and the international learning hub of the Sopra Steria Group Flexible working conditions with home office possibilities An open, collegial corporate culture, confirmed by the "Great Place to Work" certification We unfortunately cannot consider profile suggestions from personnel service providers and applications.
