Your contribution

• Shape the real estate strategy of the Swiss Army and coordinate infrastructure planning for all locations within the defense sector
• Coordinate the planning of investments, locations, and uses with general military planning and armament planning; further develop it on a strategic level
• Assume responsibility for real estate projects, from the definition of requirements to the approval of implementation, and ensure the targeted use of the relevant real estate budget
• Represent the interests of the army towards armasuisse Real Estate, federal bodies, Cantons, and political bodies and develop decision-making bases for Parliament and the Department
• Further develop standards, processes, and governance in real estate management and approve agreements and decisions relating to real estate
• Direct the Real Estate sector, strengthen cross-sector collaboration, and provide advice to the Army Command on all strategic issues relating to real estate

What distinguishes you

• University degree in business administration, engineering, architecture, or a similar field, completed by further training in a technical or business-economic field
• Several years of leadership experience in a strategic management function, with assumption of responsibility in relation to complex organizations or large-scale projects
• Solid experience in real estate management, strategic planning, and the management of complex investment and infrastructure projects
• Strong sensitivity to political, economic, and organizational connections as well as experience in managing demanding stakeholders
• Excellent knowledge of the Federal Administration and the DDPS; military experience is an advantage
• Good active knowledge of at least one second official language and passive knowledge of a third official language

The Army Staff (SM Es) provides support to the Chief of the Army in the conduct of the Defense Group and is responsible for the global military planning of the army and its development. Based on political directives, it develops the strategic bases, the development of the armed forces as well as the planning of the armed forces and armament and assumes tasks in the context of international security. Its sphere of competence also includes the conduct, management, and coordination of all cross-sectional sectors (Personnel, Finance, Real Estate).

The Swiss Army employs over 9000 collaborators within the framework of four military professions and about 200 civil professions, in 110 locations throughout the national territory. It also provides for new recruits, training apprentices in over 30 professions.
