About Us & Our Community
At International School Rheintal (ISR), we are proud to combine world-class educational standards with a "small and mighty" community feel. As a fully accredited International Baccalaureate (IB) World School - serving around 220 students from Kindergarten through Grade 12 in our award-winning, ecologically designed campus in Buchs SG - we deliver a globally recognised curriculum that empowers students to thrive anywhere in the world.
We believe our strengths lie in our scale: high relational trust, deep connectedness between faculty and students, and an environment where every individual is known and valued. At ISR, our team is intrinsically motivated, highly professional, and dedicated to stepping up for one another. Being a close-knit campus means we work right at the centre of the action. It also means we value flexible, solution-focused colleagues who see stepping outside a formal job description not as a chore, but as a rich, hands-on way to contribute to an outstanding international learning environment and to understand how a vibrant learning community functions.

About the Role & The Day-to-Day
Choosing the right school - whether relocating from abroad or seeking an internationally focused education right here in the Rheintal - is one of the biggest decisions a family will ever make. As our Admissions Lead, you are often the very first voice and face of ISR, shaping that critical first impression with empathy, composure, and authentic warmth. We are looking for a knowledgeable, supportive guide who understands how to make a great impression, answer complex questions, find information quickly, and support families thoughtfully through their decision-making process.
Alongside admissions, you will serve as an essential operational anchor for our campus: handling day-to-day inquiries, answering phones, providing executive support to school leadership, and stepping in to organise key operational tasks to keep the school running smoothly. We will provide thorough onboarding and ongoing support as you learn our community and systems.
This role offers a base workload of 50% (approx. 21 hours per week), which could be expanded up to 60% depending on the candidate's skills and agreed administrative responsibilities.
While the contract includes statutory Swiss vacation allowance (5 weeks per year), we off er an annualised hours model. This allows you to work increased hours during active school term weeks and busy admissions windows in order to enjoy additional time off during school holiday periods (exact scheduling agreed individually with the right candidate).
What "Doing a Great Job" Looks Like
- You serve as a memorable, welcoming ambassador for ISR - ensuring every prospective family (both local and international), guest, and visitor experiences authentic warmth, professionalism, and care from their very first interaction.
- Prospective parents feel genuinely supported, well-informed, and reassured from their first inquiry through arrival. You guide local and relocating families with authenticity, deep school knowledge, and an attentive, solution-focused attitude.
- You provide reliable, calm, and proactive executive support - managing daily phone calls, handling front-of-house inquiries, organising operational details, and keeping office routines running efficiently.
- You collect and verify necessary documentation (school reports, references, authority requirements) from international and local institutions cleanly and confidentially, enabling informed admissions decisions that serve our students, the family, and the school.
- You collaborate effectively with pedagogical staff to support new student transition into the school.
- You maintain up-to-date inquiry and enrollment data, supporting school leadership in having reliable forecasts and early visibility into incoming student numbers across all grade levels.
What You'll Bring
- A natural ability to connect with people from both local and diverse international backgrounds - helping all prospective families feel instantly welcome, listened to, and cared for.
- High emotional intelligence, a genuinely collaborative spirit, and an appreciation for the Rheintal region; you thrive in a close-knit team where colleagues support one another, communicate openly, and share a common dedication to our school's mission.
- High organisational competence, comfort handling phone communications, and the initiative to step in and support school leadership or organise logistics when needed.
- The ability to move smoothly between high-focus administrative work (reports, data entry, executive support) and warm, face-to-face interactions when visitors or phone calls change your workflow.
- Digital confidence and a proven track record of mastering new technology platforms, with a readiness to learn our school management systems.
- Proven experience in customer-facing roles, administration, hospitality, or public relations. We value exceptional interpersonal and organisational skills above specific education sector experience, although you bring excitement about working in a school. Strong communication skills in English (our language of instruction). Our ideal candidate is also confident in at least conversational German to connect with local families and our local community.
- Valid authorisation to work in Switzerland and residence within commuting distance to Buchs SG.
- Willingness to undergo background checks for working with children.
Ready to be the welcoming heart of our school? If you bring authentic warmth, sharp organisational instincts, and a passion for helping families find their place at ISR, we would love to hear from you.
